The Mabu are a species of mammal-like creatures in Skylands. They largely populate the world and have many villages around the islands. Most of them have peaceful lives and are not used to the destruction Kaos is causing. However in many levels where the Skylanders require support, the Mabu Defense Force is called to help them against Trolls and other obstacles.
A notable group of Mabu are the Mystic Seekers, who live in the Radiant Isles and only appear in the 3DS version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. In the Mirror of Mystery, Mabu are the mirror world equivalent of the evil Troll army.
Appearance
Mabu commonly resemble pandas or meerkats, but they come in all shapes and sizes. For example, Cali, Jess LeGrand and Flynn appear to resemble more feline and are also taller and more humanoid than most Mabu and the former has stripes. Hugo resembles a mole and has a tail unlike other Mabu, in addition to having long brown fur.
Story
Including Hugo, Cali, and Flynn, the Mabu played a major role in the events of most of the games with a few appearing in some of the Skylanders' backstories.
Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
- A Mabu mining expedition discovered the 100-year buried Prism Break whilst digging for valuable jewels underground. Grateful for being free of his earthly prison, the once fearsome crystal golem dedicated himself to protecting the Mabu and Skylands.
- The Mabu of Shattered Island were forced to evacuate after a tornado began to ravage their town. The Mabu Royal Family were trapped within the ruins of their palace, but were rescued by the Skylander.
- The Stonetown Mabu kept the Eternal Earth Source safe until the Skylander can go there to claim it, only to see the Eternal Earth Source turn into the Stone Golem and wreak havoc upon their town.
- The Mabu also have a defense force that was started by Rizzo under the command of General Robot, and were notable for participating in their fight against Kaos and his Troll Army in Troll Warehouse, Goo Factory, and Battlefield. It's debatable how effective they were though, as the Skylander often wound up getting them out of tight spots.
- The Mabu Blobbers lead a Molekin mining expedition before Molekin Mine caved in.
- At Plunder Island, the Shipmaster helps man the ship that brings the Skylander to the Pirate Island after Jess LeGrand was kidnapped.
3DS Version
In the Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, a group of Mabu called the Mystic Seekers live on the Radiant Isles.
Skylanders: Giants
- Time of the Giants shows that the Mabu were enslaved by the Arkeyans 10,000 years ago before they were liberated by the Skylanders.
- In Junkyard Isles, Mabu can be seen repairing The Dread-Yacht.
- In Cutthroat Carnival, the Mabu Blobbers is left behind by the Skylanders.
Skylanders: Trap Team
- Dreamcatcher attempts to steal the dreams of the Mabu scientists in Monster Marsh and Telescope Towers to learn the secrets of Traptanium.
- The Mabu Defense Force assist the Skylanders in Mystic Mill and Operation: Troll Rocket Steal. They help build structures, battle enemies, and destroy barriers.
- In the Mirror of Mystery, the Mabu switch roles with Trolls and serve as the primary enemies of the dimension. Evil Flynn and the Mabu Offense Force (the Mirror world counterpart to the Mabu Defense Force) attack the Skylanders. A trappable Mabu villain named Mab Lobs makes an appearance as the first playable Mabu character.
- In the Mirror Dimension, Mabu soldiers are created by Evil Persephone.

- In Spyro's Adventure, the regular Mabu didn't move their mouths when they talk, though they did so in subsequent games.
- Additionally, in the Wii version of Spyro's Adventure, almost every Mabu citizen has an 'ouch!' voiceline when hit. In the PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 version, only Weeza retains a voiceline.
- Most of the Mabu in the series seem to resemble pandas or moles, sutch as Hugo, Blobbers, Snuckles, Rizzo, Quigley and others, though as the series went on, many Mabu with thick fur appeared, resembling bears, such as Auric. However, Flynn, Cali and Jess LeGrand resemble caracals.
- Oddly, though only Cyclopses are mentioned to eat Mabu in the game canon, they are the prime target of many villains in the Skylanders Academy TV show.
- According to a Mabu in Boom Town, Mabu have tails.
